ok my hair is BLACK and i want to dye it likea lighter shade like brownish red but my cousin did it and she sed it didnt work.

also i swim everyday so would it damage my hair? will it turn green? cuz i have black hair not blonde

First I recommend you get the color stripped by a professional - you can't just put color on black hair - as your cousin tried, it just doesn't work that way. But a pro can take out as little or as much colour as necessary, without too much damage. Also, if you try doing this yourself, you run the risk of breakage as well as hair falling out! :-0

Once you have a lighter shade, do protect it with a swim cap - it will already be a little stressed from the coloring, so condition as much as possible too.

Go to a good salon and get highlights in a shade you like.

If you do your entire head another entire color, the root-upkeep will be a pain.

Do not "strip" your hair, it will dry the heck out of it.

Also, certain shampoos %26amp; conditioners (Malibu2000 Swimmer's Action) are good at removing chlorine.

Always wet your hair before swimming, so the hair doesn't suck up all the chlorine.
