I have very thick, curly black hair and I have been doing some thinking about dying it. I don't want something very 'drastic' I guess, just something a little different. But I've been having trouble finding hair dye that really shows up well on black hair. Any ideas on colors, brands, etc??
**I have tan skin, by the way, if anyone is curious, lol**

don't bleach it. it completely ruins your hair, but if you need to then use a lightener.. it's not as damaging. some brands make special dye for people with dark hair, personally i like revlon colour rays because the color really shows up, but the colors are kind of out there.

Your best bet is to go to a salon where they can lift your hair (bleaching it) the right way and then get maybe some red highlights

And dont bleach it!!! u gonna ruin it

to dye on black hair you'll probably need to bleach/lighten it before anything will show up. this will destroy your hair. if i were you i'd leave it alone, or go to a salon. if you're short on money, go to a beauty school, they'll do a great instructor supervised job at a fraction of the price.

don't even try it! it'll destroy your hair's natural beauty! just have it rebond! pls! good luck!

there are some new kits out for very dark hair ...superior preference les true brunettes...i'm going to try it myself. it is for dark hair only and claims to lighten even black hair.

I would not bleach it or make it light. You could add a few high lights,go only one or two shades lighter with them. No blond, you will look like a skunk and it will ruin your hair.
Dying my black hair...?
color it dark brown with a tilt of golden

Your best bet sweetie is go to a professional. I am a stylist myself and if you do it at home..............you will probably not be happy with the results. If you want to go lighter.......(which I assume you do) it will entail bleaching which is NOT recommended at home. Good Luck hon.
