My dad has light brown hair, my mom has jet black hair.

My sibling all came out with brown hair, but I'm the only one with black hair.

Since it was less common, I was wondering if black hair was recessive to brown hair.

Sounds like your siblings all just got "lucky" with the brown hair (not to imply that black hair is bad, o' course!).
