Dying black hair to blonde..?

Okay, I have a situation. My hair is originally blonde, but about 4 months ago I decided to dye it black. Ever since then, I've had it black and have been happy with it.. I recently dyed it again about two weeks ago, but I've been thinking that I should dye it back to blonde. I've heard that I'd have to go through bleaching my hair, and go through a bunch of maintenance with my hair just to dye it back to blonde. I don't really have the money to get all of that done, so I was wondering.. is there any way to dye my black hair to back to blonde without spending too much money or bleaching my hair?

Not really, once you've made that big of a change you usually have to first dye it to dirty blonde %26amp; then dye it to blonde. It is a lot of work but if you want it quick just dye it blonde again

This could ruin your hair so I would wait until the black starts to look like it is going to fade

You can buy a product that brings your hair back to its original color

Please go to a professional... it will take alot of time and probably a few appointments, but if you try to do it yourself your hair will all fall out. Believe me I'm a hairstylist, I've seen it.

Sounds like you need one side blond and the other brunette. Y'know one side for each mood.

I have done this a couple of times.

You can get a two part blonding solution from hairdressers or Priceline. It costs about $25

There is a bleaching powder and a development creme that you mix together and apply as a paste - it is the same as the one that hairdressers use.

It will probably take two applications to get it blond - three if you want to go platinum.

I would recommend mixing together a nice strong solution , applying it, combing it through and then wrapping your head in glad wrap or whacking on a shower cap then leaving it for half an hour.

Your hair will go orange first I am assuming... once you have washed out the first application, it is best to put in some leave in conditioner and leave it for 24 hours and then repeat... should have you sorted.

Dying black hair to blonde..?

No, there really isn't. Color doesn't remove color, so putting a blonde color over it isn't going to do anything. Bleaching your hair at home is dangerous and pretty much just dumb, and if you try to do that, or use one of those "color removing" kits, you WILL turn your hair orange and thoroughly damage it, so really, you have three choices:

1. Keep it black

2. Let it grow out and just look silly for awhile (or cut it short and let it grow back out)

3. Suck it up and get it done professionally, because this is a job that even professionals handle with a lot of precaution.

Good Luck!

Hey, i'm not a hairdresser, but how about trying foils or streaks and gradually building them up over time till you get closer to your original colour. This will be less expensive to go to a proffessional to do because the cost will be spread out over a longer time and would be kinder to your hair, in the long run.

There is one way I know of but it takes a LOT of patience. Slowly dye your hair back gradually. If your hair is naturally blond then your roots will pick up the new color when it grows back in. Pick a few shades darker than the blond you ultimately want to wind up with and dye your hair this color, specifically focusing on the roots. Then let it grow out, get a trim and dye the roots again. Gradually keep changing the color to suit your taste and eventually your hair will be back to blond. Remember to keep it subtle when choosing dyes so it won't look ridiculous and deep condition once a week with a repairing conditioner so that your hair won't dry out. Best of luck and whatever you do DO NOT BLEACH YOUR HAIR! It will destroy it forever.

Ohhh, my sister had the same problem. She's a brunette, but in the summer, she got SUN IN to make it lighter. Her hair was too dark for the product, so it began to turn a pale orange on top. Then she was feeling crazy with her friend, so she died a strip blonde, in the back. To get rid of the orange, she died it with a box dye. It ended up being too dark, so we tried another. Still no luck. We went to the hair professionals to have it dyed well, but they said they'd have to bleach it. As you said, that's extremely expensive with all the appointments, dye and all. If you really want your hair back to its origional color, I'd say let it grow out if you want it healthy. If you want a quick fix, I wouldn't recomend bleaching it. Hair that's been through that much treatment in a short time can leave it damaged. I'd look for the shampoo that is designed to wash out dye. That will cause the color to fade more quickly and it will be safer to dye without damage.

Best of luck to you and my sister!

=)
