I've been dying my hair black for about 3 years now, my natural color is blond. Would I need to get it bleached or get the color completely stripped out? I'm going to a professional for either, I'm just curious as to what they would need to do.
Black Hair.?
I'm a testament to the "once you go black..." mantra. I am a brunette and I had been dying my hair black for years. I decided I wanted to go back to my natural color. Advice from a stylist made me change my mind. She said that I could strip the color, but it would cause MAJOR damage to my hair. She advised that I let it grow out. I did that. It took a long time, but I finally have my natural color back. I will NEVER go black again. One thing you could do while you wait for it to grow out is get some of that color rinse that stays in only until you wash it the next time. That way you won't have roots, but your hair will be growing out all the while.
Black Hair.?
Get Elimin8 its a stripper that will get your black hair color out, and it has no harsh chemicals, just look it up on yahoo or google you will see the site. Report It

the professional would know best just ask them to do what they think would be the least damaging to your hair

If you go to a salon then you will need to have the color stripped from your hair, and it's not an easy or healthy process for your hair. Black hair dye is the hardest of all colors to remove, especially if you have been coloring your hair that shade for awhile as you have. The issue that often develops after the hair is stripped of black dye is the resulting color. If you're expecting it to be your blonde then you'll be in for a shock. The resulting color is typically an odd red or orange shade, which the colorist will then have to attempt to tone down and color over to get to look decent. If the haircolorist is reputable and experienced then it will probably turn out alright, but if not then there's the chance it might not. If you're going to have all this done to your hair I would pay extra for a deep conditioning treatment at the salon if one is offered. Your hair is going to need it. I think the best thing you could do though would be to let the color grow out. If you're worried about the color of your roots as they grow in, buy a dark brown semipermanent dye and put it on your roots as they come in. That way their color won't be as stark a contrast to the black as the blonde would, and when the color has grown out you can let the semipermanent shade fade to your normal color. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear, but this is what I've seen happen to two friends of mine who like to change the colors of their hair quite often, black being one of them. Good luck.
