i died my from dirty blond to black, dirty blond is my natural color, and its been black for a while now but my dirty blond hair is growing back and i was wanting to die it to a lighter black this time, because it was really dark the first time i had it done, i went to wallmart to do it, and i dont know what they used in my hair. but i dont know if i die it from dark black to a lighter black (my friend told me to use natural blue black) and its lighter then what i have. so i dont know what will happen, do i have to do something to my hair first so it dosnt turn a weird color or something... and those wondering no i dont know what im doing im a guy lol.
Black hair to light black hair?
If You Want Your Hair LIGHTER Than Black. The Next Lightest Shade Is DARK BROWN Or Brownish Black Or Soft Black. It Depends Largely On The Shade Of Black It Is Now.
Blue Black (Darkest)
Jet Black/Oriental Black
Natural Black (True Black)
Soft Black (Deeper Than Brownish Black)
Brownish Black (Lightest Shade Of Black)
Darkest Brown
There Are Other Shades Of Black, Some With Highlights
(Ruby Red, Violet, Blue, Green) But These Fall Somewhere In The Above Shades.
I Hope This Helps.
Good-Luck!!

You could try and bleach the black all out.
You'd probably need something like Super Blue (from Sally's Beauty Store) and then once you get it blonde, dye it.
Sally's has really good dyes, but there is also Revlon Colorsilk which is at Wal*Mart for like $3-4.
They have a 'soft black' that maybe you'd like.
