Bleaching my black hair to blonde?

First I want to say that I have very, very thick hair. It's very healthy, as well. I dyed it black about 5 months ago, and now my roots are grown in about 3 inches. The black has faded a bit, and when I hold up my hair outside it seems like I can see more brown than black, but starring in the mirror I just see a faded black with brown roots. My hair is naturally dark brown.

My two friends, Kat and Kathryn have dyed their hair from dark brown and black blue in the past, after using hair bleach and their hair didn't ruined.

I've been thinking of using hair bleach, I think I'll need 2 bottles, but hopefully less. I can't afford to go to a salon right now, and hair isn't everything to me, so why not. Once it's bleached to a yellow or white I want to dye it to a dirty blonde, which was my hair color as a child.

I was just wondering how the bleaching process would work and what I could expect. Some say orange, some say I'll get yellow since it's faded. What do you think?

Thanks a bunch.

I think if you can't afford a pro to fix it, save up until you can. You obviously don't know what you're doing or you wouldn't be here asking. You have an aura of vanity about you. You would be devastated if your hair went Orange and wiry.

NOOOOOOOOOOO i did it my hair went orange and wiriery you have to get ya hair stripped at a salon back to its natural coulour then do it....

Bleaching my black hair to blonde?

i swear to god. dont do it.

itll turn BRIGHT orange babe.

dont do it.

i urge you.

my hair is LIGHT brown and i tried to bleach it myself and it turened orange.

if your hair is naturally dark and died black.

itll be TWICE as bad.

its fo your own good.

wait for the salon

just save up for it, if you REALLY still want to go blonde

When it comes to bleaching (better known as lifting) your hair color it's better to let the pros do it. To much bleaching will strip all of your hair of nutrients and leave it brittle and breaking.

The strength is in the hair... keep it that way!

I have simular natural hair and I went through the bleached phase in junior high. I don't suggest it at all, it's been years and my hair is just now starting to regain it's good health. Plus natural is always in, just style it however you feel each day. Good luck

Bleaching my black hair to blonde?

Hahaha. I've done this SO many times.

I have just bleached it over and over until it was blonde.

It was always kind of tacky-looking, though.

One time, I went and had the color stripped out of my hair and then dyed. That was very damaging, but it did the job!

The ends of your hair will turn out orange.

The top will be yellow.

If your hair can afford a little extreme...

then just do that.

And keep bleaching it. You'll be fine. It just takes a bit of a process.

Whatever you have now is better. Trust me.

my hair is naturally ark brown and when i bleached it its more orange and its kinda wirey and yea dont its like orange/dark brown still =)

Bleaching my black hair to blonde?

okay bleaching your hair, you need a professional to do that because it can be very dangerous for yourself to do it unless your talking about really blonde hair dye then its going to make your hair orange and then adding blonde in it will make it even worse so i know because i went from dark brown to blonde and it made it orange even if i tried doing it over again. The main thing is, bleaching yourself, you can burn your skull skin which is not good at all that's why professionallys know what they are doing but i guess you could get some instructions from them on how to do it and hopefully it will work that way.

chances are, your hair will end up orange, unless its done correctly... heres the stages the hair goes thru in the bleaching process:

dark red

red

red orange

orange

yellow orange

yellow

pale yellow

depending on the color you want, thats the amt of time you have to let it sit... but make sure not to let it sit too long, because you could really damage your hair, causing it to fall out...

also, you have to make sure the bleach saturates all of the hair, or else you'll end up with cheetah spots...

and make sure you do your grown-out roots last, since they're a lighter color than the rest of your hair, otherwise you'll end up with hot roots (where the roots are a signifacantly lighter color than the rest of your hair)

and make sure when you do your roots, you dont' apply the bleach directly to your scalp, it can burn your scalp, causing it to feel very hot %26amp; itchy...

good luck...

I think you should go to a salon.

Salons use a much stronger bleach that will give it the extra lift. They will then apply a color that is more suitable to your complexion.

I've had plenty of bad experiences trying to do it myself,

I spent more time and money trying to fix it myself than I did going to a Salon.

You may try going to a beauty college, were they may have more reasonable prices.

Bleaching my black hair to blonde?

This is a funny question because I am going thru the same process! Go to a salon to get it done, trust me, this is a difficult process but a hair stylist as long as he/she is good will be able to handle it.

Well, the first thing my hair dresser did was put a stripper on my hair, which is harmless, you could use it 6 times in one day...it fades all the colour. Then, since it was reddish/blondish/blackish (which is why u need a hair dresser..couldnt do it yourself) she dyed it brown, and put tones of caramel and blonde high lights. My hair looks REALLY light right now...next time I go back, she's going to "highlight the crap out of it" and just keep adding more and more highlights until it's blonde, you should only go once a month to keep it healthy so it should take about two months.

Now, if you bleach it yourself at home...beware. My friend did it, and when you bleach your hair all over with box dye (box dye is very bad for your hair, and if you've boxed dyed your hair with black previously it will be even harder to get out). It will turn orange. Trust me on this, all my friends in my little group either have platnium blonde hair or pitch black, and the ones that tried to bleach it at home...not a pretty sight! Ended up havng to bleach it 3 or 4 times in one night and looked totally fried.

I hope this helped, I know what ur going through black is such a tough colour to get out! Please listen and go to a salon though you won't regret it. To get a nice blonde and not an orangey or fried looking one, you need to do the highlights process. You just never know what will happen to your hair if you trust it in ur own hands lol, some people's could turn out find and some could turn out horrible.

Oh yes and I'll add one more thing, my hair hasn't been damaged going through this process because I went to a top salon, which is what you need to do! Try to do some research before you look into it. My hair is still soft and shiny as ever.

if you really want your hair to return to it's previous color without turning orangey, go to your trusted hair stylist and ask if he/she can dye it back.

Bleaching my black hair to blonde?

I really think that you should do it in a much less harsh way than just putting bleach inyour hair because it will take a very long time to lift the black if it will even do that you should use a light brown and gradually get to the color you want without the bleach.. It is soooo damaging to do that to your hair. I really think you'll end up with a orange
