Can I use black hair care products on my hair?

My friend has a boyfriend who's mixed race with over half black and under half white. But she was feeling my hair the other day and she said my hair felt exactly like his... I was always asked if I was half black cuz of my hair, even though I'm white with darker blonde hair lol. But he uses black hair care products, and I was thinkin maybe thats what I need to make my hair more manageble.... if its gonna fro, then fro with style right? Anyways what do you think? Also I'm not a hair stylist so I'm not sure what black hair care products are and what they do.

From what I have come to know is that 'black' hair care products contain more moisturizers than regular shampoos and such because our hair tends to go from moist to dry when it gets dirty. Whereas, with the 'other' kind of hair, it is the opposite. It goes from dry to oily as it gets dirtier. That type also doesn't want all the moisturizers because it would flatten or weigh down their hair. Black hair craves moisture to look healthy and handle the styling tools we use. Most other hair looks healthier when it is not drowned in styling products and solutions. So depending on which way you hair is should define what may be best for you.

If you want to try it, there's no reason you can't. The styling products won't hurt your hair, and if they don't do what you hope you can just wash them out.

sure you could use black hair products on your hair. If you do though i would stongly suggest using the light versions of them. such as Lusters pink oil light. they should make your hair less greasy than the heavier versions. also be aware of how much you use start out using a little bit then slowly add more as necessary. If the products say to do a test strand DO THE TEST STRAND!!! every ones hair is different and reacts differently to products

yeah, I also am white with very thick dry "poofy" hair I use this stuff coconut oil when aplying a flatiron or anything with heat to my hair or to simply hold flyaways back it is similar to a pomade , but is thicker and silkier you may want to try it you can also use it overnight to help condition your hair

Well I'm not sure you should try a relaxer that should be done by a pro!! But as far as shampoo and styling products yes you can use them... they just have more oil in them because African American hair is a different texture and drier. Try doing a deep conditioning treatment using cholesterol treatment first after you wash it, put Cholesterol ( Queen Helene) generously on it, then put it up it under a shower cap then take blow drier to it and heat it up.for a few minutes. Then after about 15 or 20 minutes gently rinse it out... If this doesn't work wash it and try something else but this is good for any race hair if it's dry and fizzy. Hope this Works for YOU!!
