I'm Black and Mexican and thinking about dying my hair. Crazy question, but should I stick to hair dyes only made for Black women? I've been told to only stick to Black hair dyes, but the college town I'm in doesn't have any stores that carry them.

African American hair color maybe formulated with more moisturizers (because our hair tends to be dryer) and to work better with darker hair if it is a very light color. other races have hair just as dark as we do and that is y so many color companies ( not just the African American ones) are coming out with colors just for dark hair. you can use any hair color brand u like to color you hair. it doesn't have to be just for African Americans to work. and just so u know, loreal makes almost very brand of color you can think of including professional products so there colors a lot of times are the same formula with different packaging to appeal to the shopper of color. people fee like it would be better for them if there is some1 who looks like them on the box.

i believe that you should stick with dyes for black texture hair because women of color have very unique hair types that require different chemicals and products to produce the correct out come. if you try to us a product design for white hair it might not preform to it best potential because of the texture difference.

You can do what you want but I would stick with the browns(no light,light brown),reddish brown,and black.Do not go any lighter than the reddish colors.But then again its your hair and you could do whatever you want.Just be you in every way.
