Dying black hair...?

I tried dying my hair black hair to natural medium golden brown, and I used Nice n Easy #117 as I remember...and sat there for about 30~35 min after I finished applying the thing, and took a shower just like it says on the instruction..but then I can only see bit of brown when I'm standing under the light.. How can I dye my black hair so that it would clearly show as golden brown even if im not standng under the light?? Please tell me some good brand for dying my hair, and is it usually difficult to dye your black hair??? thx

Go to the Salon....OR if you are brave to do it yourself ( I'm not) I would go to Sallys beauty supply and get them to help you pick out the shade and give you info on how to do it.....

You might want to go and get it done professionally. It might cost more but they can give you advise and dye your hair properly.

you need to go have it done by a professional...box color is horrible for your hair and you will never get the results you are looking for. I am a cosmetologist i know.....the box color can't lift your hair enough for it to work...seek professional help!

You might have to bleach it a bit to be able to see the color, I had to do that when I put green highlights my hair (it's dark brown) Hope I could help!!!

With black hair, you have to use a powerful hair bleach first (this is somewhat damaging to your hair) and THEN dye your hair whatever color it is you desire. You should have a very good conditioner to use afterward and you should use the conditioner regularly, since both the bleaching process and the dying process will harm your hair.

You should go to the salon it will probably take at least two treatments to lighten it.

since you have dark hair... you will need to use a lighter hair color so it looks medium brown... look on the side of the hair coloring box.. and it shows how your hair color is and when you use the dye... it shows the colors.. and yeah nice n easy isnt that great... you should try revlon or garnier.

Personally i use clairol and when i died my hair from black i had to get two hair colors first i had to die it blonde and then brown!!!!

You definitely have to have it done by a pro. Think of it this way: If you have black construction paper and you draw on it with colored markers, how does it look? That's what happens with your hair. The OTC hair colors we buy to do our hair can lighten them a bit, but not like we expect. I have red hair, which I don't like at all. I have to have it colored professionally because if i do it myself, no matter what color I put on it, it always looks red. It just doesn't take. When I have it done professionally, I always have a rich, dark brown without red blaring through. Believe me, its worth it. A pro will probably tell you that you have to bleach or strip the natural color from your hair and then put the new color in. Its probably goingto be a 2 step thing. When they do mine, I have an ash wash put on first to take out the red b4 they color it.
