im 17 i am deciding to dye my hair a dark reddish brownish tone

my natural hair color is dark dark brown= BLACK with light brown natural hightlights

im scared to dye my hair b/c i dont want it to damage my hair and make it ugly/damaged like it usually becomes

when girls dye their hair...i have never previously dyed my hair and this is my first and last time

so is it ok if i do it once in my life? and can i get back to my naturl hair color like wash out the red if i dont like it after years?

ok i can tell u from my experience...i use to have natural black hair when i was ur age..i dyed it several times and now i have a very flashy ruby red..i like it but the problem with dying ur hair red is that it washes off much faster then any other colour...in 10 washes the color will fade..so i dont know if thats a good thing or bad thing for u..but its the truth..and as for dying ur hair for the first time..ur hair isnt going to get damaged if u take care of it after wards..like use a good conditioner and do hot oil treatment every week then ur hair will be healthy as usual..also if u dye ur hair with permanent dye after 4-6weeks the roots will grow and ur natural hair colour will show..so ur gona have to dye the roots to keep the whole hair the same dyed colour or u can just let it grow out n let the hair colour go off..naturally by just lettin it grow out...so its really up to u..and its ok to dye ur hair once in ur lifetime if u really want to..n as for ur nautaral hair colour it sounds fabulous so either way u will look good..so good luck wid it! hope i helped!

after awhile ur hair will grow out and the color will fade and go...but if u want to dye ur hair, u'd be beter off havin a hairt stlist doing it especially if u have never done it before...they can also tell u good shades to use and would be able to actaully show u how it would most likely come out...and also when u wash it first after having it dyed the dye will come off the first few washes...like the color stays but excess will be left, its nothing to worry about, that happened to me and no one told me that that would happen and i was like 'omg' but its fine

If you are that scared maybe try getting it done professionally, and if you can't afford it then maybe you should wait to get it done. I wouldnt do it if you not sure about the outcome because it will more than likely have a bad outcome.

When in doubt, don't do it. If you don't listen to that advice and do it anyway, try a semi-permanent haircolor first; it washes out in about 6 weeks, will give you a preview of what your hair may end up looking like, and will keep any damage to a minimum..

what you should do is not dye the hair yet! you would get a rinse to color it down to another color! The highlights will come out more or a red or dark orange, as it grows out change the rinse to keep the color fresh! I did the same when i had blond highlights! I got a bright red rinse and my hair came out stunning! i love the color now! go to a beautician and see what they say though!

Like the others said since this is your first time get a professional to do it. I've coloured my hair since I was your age (I'm 26 now) and everytime I go and get it cut the stylist says I've got the most beautiful and healthy hair they've ever seen. Most people I know that colour their hair don't have damaged hair *the exception being those girls that colour it from a dark colour to blonde*. If you decide not to go to a professional I'd recommend a temporary hair colour such as Loreal's Pulse. I've used it before. It's super easy to apply and it covers pretty well. Best of all no commitment! It washes out in 8 to 10 shampoos.
