Black hair...its gotta go..help?

Okay..so awhile back, i dyed my hair black. and i liked it so i continued to keep it that way..now, however, i want to get all the black hair dye out of it so i can dye it another color...i dont want to get it professionally stripped because i most likely have a baby on the way..and i need to be saving my money..

Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on how to get the dye out of my hair?

Or how bout instructions on how to bleach it?

Basically, you either need to grow it out, or if it washes out, then wash it out. Or you can bleach it.

i think if u got it too a brown color it would be nice or do some brown or redish high light is wolud look more natural ... be care ful with a baby you dont want the chemicals to hurt her or him....

heya, i did the same but with red an i couldn't get it out for ages, so a hairdresser put a toner on it to kinder kill off the red colour, which was only bout 20 quid, but black is quite a strong colour i think u have to let it grow out, an get ur hair cut reguarly to keep tryin to get all the colour out!! x

it all depends what colour you want to go next you can either buy a bleaching set and add water to it to dilute it, rub on ends of your hair first (the ends are most pourus and difficult to shift colour from) then apply to mid lenghts of hair! be care full to avoid any regrowth of natural hair you may have as this will go very light! this will prob make your hair orange but don't panic as it has to go through this stage, leave for around 20 -30Min's you will defiantly have to put a colour over the top so have one ready another alternative is to use medicated shampoo as this strips the hair but is a slow process! i would highly recommend a good conditioning treatment after both!

You can't lift color with color. In other words, dying it a lighter shade won't work. You'll need to get it stripped. You can buy stripping kits at beauty supply stores, but it'll fry your hair (and possible burn your scalp) so be careful. Follow up with a deep conditioning for your hair and scalp. 2 good ones to try are placenta conditioner and/or cholesterol (available at beauty supply stores or drug stores, it might be found with hair products for African Americans.) Apply the conditioner to your hair, put on a shower cap and then sit under a blow dryer or microwave a damp towel until it's hot (but not hot enough to burn) and place on your head. Wait 20 minutes to a half hour and rinse. Use 2 - 3 times a week until your hair texture improves.

Unfortunately, the only other thing to do is grow it out. And if you are pregnant, it's the only solution. You shouldn't use harsh chemicals while you're pregnant.

You could get something called color oops, which would strip your hair down to an orangey(?) shade, then dye over it.... If you want to bleach your hair I would suggest going to your local beauty supply shop and picking up a 30 volume developer (40 volume if you want maximum lift, but this can be VERY DAMAGING to you hair) and a packet of powdered bleach. DO NOT leave the bleach on your hair for more than an HOUR.

I must stress this, the fumes WILL BE OVERWHELMING!!! If you're pregnant I highly suggest you wait until AFTER you give birth.....
