Black Hair Care Products !?

I'm a Black female with long hair. It's 3 inches above my backside. I always get the stupid "What are you mixed with" question, lol. %26amp; the answer is black and more black!. Lately I have been leaving it out and people have been running their hands through it but for some reason it's been feeling dry and I'm starting to get split ends. I usually do my hair myself and I cut it every week, but I know I need to do something else with it %26amp; with work and school it's usually put up in a bun like my avatar. So any tips? On managing split ends and dealing with dry hair? Any good Black Hair Care or good hair care products out there?

Any tips?

BTW, I use Dr. Miracles, Castor Oil and Carrot Oil.

You should just chop the split ends before they spread up the hair strand. Also you can try hot oil treatments and do deep conditioning every week. Maybe you can try to learn about essential and carrier oils. Try MotownGirl.com

I think that the products that you are using curently are great products, but I wonder if maybe you hair is building up a tolerance to them. I would reccomend that you use a really heavy deep conditioner atleast twice a week, until your can get some strength back into the ends of your hair.

Always use a leave in conditioner. And try to give your hair a break from the bun, that might be drying it out as well. As far as severly damamged ends, maybe you need to start with a fresh cut to get rid of some of the older hair, and then you can start over with a new hair care reginmen, adn closely deteirmein what might be causing the breakgage. Be sure to take a multivitamin, and drink plenty of water.

Optimum, and Motions, make great products for dry ends.

optimum hair products, shampoo, conditioner etc. i buy mine at walmart but im sure you can get it at sallys or even a drugstore. its great. and do deep conditioner treatments. go to sallys and buy a packet, or two depending on how long or how much hair you have and leave it in there for a while, the longer the better, there is no time limit, and itll be so soft when you are done. do that often.

You might try using a humectant like Luster's Pink Oil Moisturizer Lotion (there are other humectants on the market). You can use them on dry hair before combing and styling daily. It also gives the hair a softer feel. You didn't mention if you chemically straighten your hair. Whether you do that or use hot combs, always condition your hair.

Well first off I think a huge misconception with most black females and maintaining their hair is that they can't use "non-black" hair products. Some things are obviously not great for African American hair but don't be afraid to explore and try different products. Also when you have been using the same product for usually more than 2 months straight your hair becomes immune to it so it doesnt work the way it once did. Find 2 or 3 products you love and switch it up every few months. I use Biolage hydratherapie and it is absolutely AMAZING, it will give your hair a very silky feel but without being greasy looking. Garnier also makes conditioners and moisturizers for split ends that are great! If you are not a professional hair stylist it is likely you are not giving yourself a proper hair cut. When this happens you're not getting all your split ends and your hair is continuing to dry out. You should go get your hair professionally cut once a month and if its too pricey go once every other month, its worth it if you don't want to have to cut off that beautiful hair in a year bc its all dead and uneven. Good luck!

Like Udel26 said there is a lot of products thats not neccassarily advertised for black people that works on our hair. I personally use Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine products that makes my hair stonger than all the "black hair products." I also have used Dove and Pantene Pro-V products that works really well for me. Putting your hair in a bun a lot can be bad for your hair, trust me I know.

i use Gueye shampoo and conditioner, and this indian hair oil aswini, its the the best i ever used in my life, but u know how to clip your own ends? if you do tell me how

U go girl! For one, stop letting folks put their hands in your hair unless you know them. People may have not washed their hands or they could have jagged nails and this is not good for your hair. Also, I find that Humectress works well and any type of leave in conditioner. I also use the carrot oil...have you ever tried tea tree oil?

Split ends is just one of those things we all go through whether you hair is long or short. The best answer is to get trims regularly by a licensed stylist. And in between those times please:

閳ヮ敥ondition your hair. I am not sure where you are but the winter takes a toll on your hair. Especially if you are blow drying your hair then going out in the cold 閳?so there is another tip wear a hat!

閳ヮ敭ot oil treatments such as Jojoba oil are effective especially when there is a dandruff issue

閳ヮ敳eave-in conditions where should be applied to the ends of the hair each day.

閳ヮ敳earn how to wrap or roll your hair -- in other words put the curling iron down it is damaging your hair!

閳ヮ敻ubber bands are a no- no when you do pull your hair back, use hair accessories that are covered.

閳ヮ敽ake a daily vitamin, not only your hair but your skin can be lacking the tools it needs to protect itself

閳ヮ敧rink water! Yes something as simple as drinking water will allow more natural moisture and resiliency
