What should i do about my black hair?

I have naturally black hair. I have dyed it over the years since i was 13. Mostly browns, blonde, and more frequently dark black. For the past 7 years i have been dying my hair black, i love it. Now, i want a change. Ive had hairdressers refuse to do anything with my hair, mainly because they are afraid of the time it'll take and the results. I had a strand test done, and since i have not dyed in 6 months, half of my long hair is naturally black and the other is still dyed black. I'm only interested in dying my hair brown or something. Should i let it grow? How long would it take for 6 more inches of hair to gown out? And, could a good salon be able to do this? I know i have screwed up my hair, but i would just like to know if its possible.

Hmmmm...... that is tricky.

I would try to style it like Vanessa Anne Hudgens (google her for pics)

Put some wave into it and let it grow out (there are always products to speed this up!)

You should listen to your hairdresser's advice. Black hair dye is almost impossible to lighten without doing serious damage to your hair. Just let it grow and get it trimmed every 8 weeks and it will grow out faster than you think.
